Green Jobs Program Comes to champion high school for 2-week pilot

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Brockton, MA) - BEE Project has partnered with Brockton Public Schools to host a two-week Green Jobs Pilot Program at Champion High School. The program will kick off on May 15, 2023, and will run through May 26, 2023.

The pilot program is designed for Freshman Environmental Science students to learn about the green jobs industry, the relationship between water and energy, and gain insight from industry professionals.

This Green Jobs Pilot program is sponsored by The Jack and Kathy Shields Family Foundation. During the two weeks, students will have a unique opportunity to explore the growing field of green jobs. Through a series of classroom discussions, guest speakers, and interactive activities, students will learn about the importance of sustainability and energy conservation while gaining awareness and valuable skills related to the green jobs sector.

“Throughout the school year, students at Champion High School have demonstrated a sincere interest in and passion for environmental conservation and sustainability. The Green Jobs Pilot Program will help our students understand how their passion can transfer to a number of career paths. We’re grateful to the BEE Project and the Shields Family Foundation for their support and for selecting the Brockton Public Schools as their pilot district,” said Superintendent of Schools Michael P. Thomas.

The program will also include a hands-on experiment with MakeWater.org to explore the interrelation between energy and water. The partnership between the BEE Project and MakeWater.org aims to inspire the next generation of environmental leaders by educating students on the importance of water conservation and sustainable practices.

"We are thrilled to bring our Green Jobs Pilot Program to Champion High School," said Sadie Bronk, Founder of the BEE Project. "Our program is designed to educate and inspire the next generation of environmental leaders, and we believe that Brockton Public Schools will be a great partner in helping us achieve this. We are grateful to The Shields Foundation for their generous support in making this program possible."

The Jack and Kathy Shields Family Foundation works with agencies in the community to support and enrich the quality of life for struggling individuals and families through counseling and mentorship, economic opportunities, and improved access to nutritious food. Grants are awarded, by invitation only, to non-profit organizations that align with our mission and demonstrate innovative approaches to solving problems.

“We are excited to partner with Sadie Bronk and the Brockton Public Schools to bring the BEE Project to Champion High School. This innovative project-based program exposes students to the emerging field of Green Energy and the range of careers available to high school and college students.” – Jack and Kathy Shields

The BEE Project's Green Job Pilot Program promises to be an exciting and educational experience for Champion High School students. The program will provide them with valuable skills and knowledge that will prepare them for a future career in the growing green jobs industry.
